ALMAS Program @ Henry Sibley High School
This program was designed to combat the drop out problem among the Hispanic population. In Minnesota, the drop out rate of Latino students is 39%.
- Improve communication between school and Latino parents
- Increase messages that Latino students are progressing well academically
- Create and help Latino students feel pride in their cultural roots
- Bring together Latinos and Anglos in an environment of equality and unity
- Increase participation of Latinos in extra-curricular activities
Partnering agencies include La Oportunidad, Inc., Neighborhood House and the Minnesota Twins.
